Biblical Counseling

-Jesus doesn't want you to walk this life alone-

About Biblical Counseling

What does counseling look like at Community Baptist Church?

CBC Counseling Ministry desires to help and encourage individuals and families with the life changing truth of God's Word. (2 Peter 1:3) At different times in our lives it can feel like a fog has descended upon us, making it difficult for us to find our way out of the darkness. God's sufficient Word is the light that breaks through this darkness, giving us clarity, hope, and strength during a time when all feels lost. (1 Corinthians 10:13)

CBC invites you to take advantage of our FREE (donations accepted but not required) counseling ministry that seeks to give biblical guidance for your relationship with Christ and others. Our lives are shaped by how we think and what we love. These two areas have an incredible impact on how we interpret our life situations. Whether you are struggling with interpersonal relationships, marriage, anxiety, PTSD, abuse, adoption, infertility, abortion, parenting, addictions, sexual issues, guilt and shame, anger, depression or Christian faith issues (assurance of salvation, etc.), God's Word does have the answers.

Our counseling staff consists of both pastors who hold degrees in biblical counseling and/or are trained and certified members of Community Baptist Church.

Counseling at CBC is not state-licensed mental health care, but is uniquely biblical, and pastoral in nature. Our counselors are not medical doctors, therefore, they do not prescribe or manage medication. Counselees will always be encouraged to seek the advice of their medical doctors where physical symptoms of illness are present, or suspected.

What can you expect from CBC Counseling Ministry?

Privacy. Everything will be held in strict confidence except where, in the counselor’s judgment, there is a biblical requirement to involve others (e.g. criminal activity). Care. Our staff will care for you and treat you with respect. Encouragement toward Christ-likeness. Our staff will encourage you in your successes and exhort you to think and behave in a way that pleases Jesus Christ.

What does CBC counseling ministry expect from you?

Be honest. It is very difficult, if not impossible, to help you if you are not honest with us. Do weekly homework assignments that will encourage lasting change. Give us a little time. Habits are not developed overnight, and new habits will take time to develop. In most cases, we ask individuals to commit to regular counseling appointments for a period of 3 to 4 months.

Before we can begin to help with your problem, there are a few things you need to know:

  • First, our counseling is offered free of charge as a ministry to our church and community.

  • Appointments are based on our wait list; because of this, we are not always able to see members of other churches. Please call our office, 952-758-3287, to see if we are accepting non-members at this time.

  • For members of other churches, we require that you bring someone in spiritual leadership from your church to “walk along” with you in the counseling. This counseling advocate will be crucial to helping you implement the changes we discuss in counseling.

  • If you are not a member/attender of a church but want to receive counseling, we are glad to see you but will ask you to commit to attending Community Baptist Church while you are receiving counseling.
